SUVs
The sport utility vehicle (SUV) can best be described as something with the interior space of a station wagon built on a light truck chassis. From utilitarian military beginnings these vehicles have evolved over the years. Originally designed for rural customers requiring off-road 4wd capabilities, the military versions of the Jeep and Land Rover were modified and marketed to the non-military market as early as 1948 with the introduction of the Willys Jeep Wagon. From that point, other manufacturers began producing similar vehicles.
Here in 2011, car sales have been dwindling drastically. Whether you blame it on the economy, lack of interest, or changing tastes, there is no denying that car dealerships are trying their hardest to sell what is on their car lot. As it gets closer and closer to a new year, model runout sales on everything from economy cars to luxury SUVs are starting to pop up all across the country. Those interested in luxury SUVs can actually get a much better deal than most other styles of cars. Luxury vehicles of all types have actually seen a decline in sales because of the rough economical scenery.
The Jeep Wrangler has long been known as the vehicle of choice for serious off-roaders everywhere. That is why a Jeep Wrangler was named “4×4 of the Decade” by Four Wheeler Magazine and “best new car for off-roaders” in 2010 by Cars.com. After my test drive of the new 2012 Jeep Wrangler unlimited Sport today I think it is a vehicle of serious consequence for highway and city drivers as well.
The legendary SUV manufacturer Land Rover has just unveiled all-new “Land Rover Defender DC100″ to the crowds and motoring press during the 64th Frankfurt Motor Show 2011 in Germany. The Land Rover Defender as a model is well overdue for a revamp and to bring it firmly into the 21st century.
Few vehicles have been both on and off-road like the Land Rover from its birth in 1947, which has seen this faithful four-wheeled drive workhorse which is loved the world over today. It later evolved into the Land Rover Defender in 1990, with revised and updated models still available today. Land Rover wants to continue the historical linerage into the new millennium and beyond.
For purposes of ample space the minivan and SUV offer great and spacious advantages. They both have some great features for instance the air bags and anti-lock brakes. The minivan is not likely to undergo a complete roll over in comparison to the SUV.
Both seem to have a certain group of people they appeal to. The SUVs are usually looked at as outdoor sporting vehicles therefore many people want to own them. The minivan is more common with ladies since the vehicle is associated more with women than men.
Vehicles are very present in our everyday life which makes it very important to choose the best type of vehicle for your needs. Everyone’s needs are different, some people need small cars with very good gas mileage and others need big pickup trucks. Luckily there is now a new type of vehicle available which incorporates large space with great gas efficiency. Crossover SUVs are great for people who need large storage space or for people with bigger families yet still staying comfortable and economic.
